Joshua Peter De Souza was born in Mapusa on 12 November 1988 and completed his B.Com at St. Xavier's College, Mapusa. Before entering the Assembly, he served the town as a municipal councillor.
He is the son of the late Francis D'Souza, former Deputy Chief Minister of Goa, who represented Mapusa for years. After his father's passing in 2019, Joshua contested the Mapusa by-election, won, and was re-elected in the 2022 Assembly election.
Alongside his legislative work, he is a businessman, entrepreneur and social worker, and National General Secretary of the BJP Minority Morcha.
Elected to the Mapusa Municipal Council, serving the ward until 2019.
Won the Mapusa by-election on a BJP ticket and took office on 28 May 2019.
Appointed Vice Chairman of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation and National General Secretary of the BJP Minority Morcha.
Re-elected from Mapusa, then elected Deputy Speaker on 22 July 2022 by 24 votes to 12. Also named Chairman of the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority.
